People in the recording industry get so upset that people trade/steal (however you want to refer to it as) online music and such, and then things like this happen - internet radio stations get charged outrageous fees to broadcast the music. Live365 is being forced to impose new royalty fees PLUS a $500 per year fee for every broadcaster. Actually the "new" fees went into effect Jan 1, 2006 and now Live365 owes from that point forward which means more ads and such clogging up our stream. :bbangry:

That to me is way too much to have to pay to keep the station running. I do like the fact that Live365 had gone out of it's way to actually pay royalties that did allow the original artists to be paid for songs broadcast over their stations, however, being that our radio played songs that weren't covered under that (neither Creative or CEC were paid for these broadcasts) these new fees are just not worth it to SP.com. Now if CEI and CEC were in fact getting a paid royalties by Live365, I might reconsider keeping the station running.

Anyway Brian has always done an excellent job in keeping the station going, especially lately with his Live shows, as well as help in general to SP.com. So the torch of the station will be passed along to him with a new site feature that's coming soon.

As for the distribution of the music, that's something that's defintely being considered or at least has been in our mindset. This may not be something that we're directly involved in, as in a downloadable MP3 section, etc. I know that Creative has brought up the possibility of releasing the RAE music archives so there may be a way of getting this music even if it's not from SP.com. But of course we're always looking for fan-feedback so if anyone has ideas or suggestions, do let us know!

OH! I almost forgot... all of Brian's stuff is definetely going on the auction block. Anyone interested in buying anything belonging to him can send paypal payments to the "Keep Travis Happy Fund".

Even though i never was able to hear Radio Showbiz since it went to Live 365 ( i have dial up....zzzz) i am still sad to hear of it's demise.
