Good whatever time of day it is. This is CEC News Correspondant Bob Coleslaw.
so what, I decided we needed a little humor since this post is long. Thanks in advance for reading the entire thing ;)
There have been a lot of rumors lately that I am going to put to rest before going any further with this announcement. First, I try to keep everyone up to date and announce everything as it becomes available. I have put the chatroom in public view, but it is not in any way officially released. I am still working on it, but I know people wanted a way to communicate on the board so I decided to 'silently' let the chat go. There will more than likely be rules for the chat room when I officially release it, however for now standard forum ettiquite applies.
The reason the chat room is not officially released is because I have created custom groups for our forum, and certain groups aren't working. Simple answer: if you are getting a popup box that prompts you for a user name and pasword, it is not working for you. Generally speaking, this isn't working for our Assistant Webmasters and Assistant Webmistress. (nice segway, right Kait?) For the last week I have been in communication with the authors of the chatroom to hopefully solve this problem, but I am not holding my breath for an immediate solution. If things continue this way, I might be forced to re-arrange a few people, but I'll let them know if that must happen.
To bottom line the chat room issue: its not working 100%, so be patient and I will make an announcement once it's properly working this way everyone can get in. My goal is for tomorrow, and I'll explain why below.
Radio Showbiz Live! returns tomorrow after a brief hiatus tomorrow(Tuesday) night at 9pm/8pm central and the line up is looking good! One change for this week I have discussed with Brian is communication with him during a live show. What we will be doing now is utilizing our new chat room rather than an instant messenger service. Since the show is live, it's hard for anyone to keep up with so many instant message windows and respond to everyone in a timely manner, so this week we will start using a special room called "Radio Showbiz Live!" in our chat section. It will have its own room that is only made public during RS Live! and that will serve as a direct line with Brian, since he will be in the chat room during the show. Please do not private message him in the chat room, he's got enough windows running as it is for the radio. He's been hard at work, and I definitely want to thank him for agreeing to work something out with me concerning communication so even if you don't have AIM, you can still request a shoutout or a song.
Also, Brian and I discussed how we can handle call-ins. We recieve numerous requests for our listeners who want to go live on the radio. Since it is hard to ensure everyone gets a fair shot (or, a second chance) from now on, requests to be on the live radio can come to me. You can private message me via the chat room and send me your phone number and tell me what you'd like to discuss and I will let Brian know, and then I will be giving you a time to listen for your phone. Tip: keep your phone close to you. When you know you are going to be on live, don't let the phone be on the other side of the house so you have to put it in drive to go find it... haha, any of the above, just keep the phone close to you. If by chance you have Verizon Wireless as your cell phone carrier, let me know also. This all is just to help Brian stay organized and to ensure things run smoothly and there's no complaints. (haha, or at least not anymore...)
The key to this will be patience, since of course Brian can't do everything at once. Radio Showbiz Live is totally unscripted, so it's all about having fun. Thanks again for all your hard work, Brian! It really is appreciated.
I have seen the April 2007 show, and I have started working on the review. I will make an announcement once it's completed, so it'll be time for a celebration, or maybe not. Who knows what I'll be writing...
The line up for this week on updates here on the forum is promising, and I apologize the chat room isn't up for everyone at this time. I am working hard to get it fixed, I am just not having much luck (or support.)
I hope I have cleared up most of the questions I have been getting lately, and as always if you need to contact me, my PM box is always open, and my e-mail address is in my signature. If I do not respond via e-mail within 48 hours, please resend it. I haven't been getting some e-mails, so I apologize to anyone who hasn't heard back from me yet.
Thanks for your patience and continued support. We'll see you tomorrow night at 9p/8pm central for Radio Showbiz Live!
