On YouTube, how do you do a "save target as?"

YouTube isn't working at the moment for me either. All of the videos, no matter what their original format, are converted to YouTube's streaming format.
Generally, you aren't able to save YouTube, Google Video, etc.. videos to your harddrive, but I came across this awhile back:

I haven't tried it out, but let me know how it works if one of you decides to give it a test.

YouTube did have a scheduled overnight outage last week for upgrades. When they came back, I noticed that you can now easily link videos to posts on Live Journal.
Downloading is in fact enabled on some Google videos, I've even been able to download a Google video for viewing on my PSP.

I used that link, but it saved the video in it's own file extension- one not supported by Media Player, Quick Time or Real. You have to download yet another player or download a program to change it into a format that your player can handle. Too many steps, not enough evidence it works.
