View Full Version : I have a CRAAAAAZY idea

You may have heard of kids in school doing a "Flat Stanley" program. In it, each kid gets a sheet with an outline of a person on it, and they color and draw "self-portraits" of themselves on them. Then, the "Flat Stanleys" are sent around the country, where people from other schools take them places and write letters saying what they did with them. Eventually, they end up back at the school along with the letters, and the kids take a look at where their "Flat Stanley" has been.
Well, I have an idea along those lines. We find a CEC store that's going out of business and take the Chuckie suit off their hands. (Either that or someone donates a suit.) Then, we all post what we want to do while wearing the suit (go to the movies, go bowling, etc.). Once a suitable number of people have "signed up," we give our addresses and a list is made of who gets the suit first, second, third, etc. So essentially, we'll figure out the "route" the suit takes.
Each participant will have the suit for a period of time. Let's say "Joe" is scheduled to use the suit. "Joe" will look back at what he planned to do with the suit. Then "Joe" will do just that, with a "cameraman" (still camera, video camera, camera phone) standing by. Then, when he's done, "Joe" sends the suit to the next person scheduled, in this case "Bob." "Bob" does exactly what "Joe" just did, meanwhile "Joe" uploads the video or pictures and posts them here on the forums.
Then after everyone's done with the suit, we all vote on the member's use of the suit we like best, and the one who wins, gets the suit.
I know it's a crazy idea, and there are probably billions of reasons why this won't work, but whaddya think?

haha that does sound cool, but maybe we could use an object that isn't so valuable.. like a cec plush or something.

it's Crazy but I LIKE IT! the thing is would the person who handed the suit off originally ever see it again?

Haha, that sounds cool, but shipping the suit around wouldn't be fun for the people that volunteer to do this.
And I think there is some copyright laws behind this too.

My cousin did it and its a great idea. A costume is the wrong thing though for 2 reasons: 1) It's very valuable and 2) very expensive to ship. I say we do it with a plush doll. If we do I am all for it. Whoever signs up for this though must commit to taking part and not dropping the ball.

Same Here. We did Flat Stanley, Only We Made Him Attend the Wedding of Q and U. You Heard Me Right. We Had An Inflatable Q and U. We Had them Have The Wedding Outside the School. Sadly, We Didn't Do That Above. I Really Like The Idea. the Walkaround Would Be Hard To Do, But Would Make A Little More Sense Than Bringing A CEC Plush Everywhere Where People Will Stare At You. But The Shipping and Cost of The Walkaround Is the Problem. A Plush Is Still Fine To Do Whis With. I'd Gladly Participate With This!

Yeah this is a idea i have seen done many times elsewhere....taking a doll or figure of some sort and sending it on a "around the world" tour of sorts.
I remember last year around the time of CV3 ( or after) this idea was talked about. Someone ( i think The Captain) brought it up and the idea of sending around a plush CEC doll to all the Forum Members to take interesting local photos. It was talked about, but nothing to date had been done.
Sounds like a fun way to further promote Showbizpizza.com gang!
i'm in if ya'all want to do it.
With CEC's 30th Birthday coming up on May 22nd, we may well have the perfect date to start it. We could even begin right where it literally did all start: San Jose when some of us are there for CV4!
Who's interested?

Said item (probably CEC doll) will be sent to members of the group only and should only be sent to registered members of the board. We should set a period of time and that person should take some pics with the item doing different things. Pics should be posted or included with the item and sent on to the next person. Lets see if we can keep its adventures going a whole year. No repeats. You have to send it to someone else on the board. Everyone who wants to play should sign up. Maybe we can get a sticky posted on the board so the sign up thread stays up top? What do you guys think? I have a CEC backpack or plush we could use to get it started.

Hey everyone,
I'm game, and I'll even supply the plush! And to make it interesting and make sure that nobody cheats (and because I'm a promotional *****) I'll even custom make a SP.com shirt for him.
Let me know how we want to organize / start this. I can always bring him along to CV4 so he can join us at the festivities and we can photograph him with us at all the locations and turn him loose from there. I have a bunch of case-fresh 2006 CEC plushes so it's no big deal for me to give one up. :cec_thumbs:

Travis, if you get the CEC doll set up send it to me and I'll start it off. I like having a special custom CEC doll to do this as opposed to just any CEC doll.

Yeah guys, this sounds like an awesome idea. Just let me know where we decide to have the sign up sheet! Our Chuck is going to have awesome adventures with us. I think we should even have our Chuck visit our local CECs and take pics!

Yeah, I want in on this idea. However, sadly, I am not sure if I will be able to attend CV4. :( :( I really, really want to and still in the process of making my trip out there possibe. But, if for any reason I cannot attend CV4, could I still take part in this idea!
Keeping fingers crossed that all works our for me to attend CV4!

Hey, hey, hey!
What is up with this guys? Only Chuck E. Cheese? No love for Billy Bob? It is showbizpizza.com after all?

Calm down Billy Bob......
Remember, the doll WILL be wearing a "ShowbizPizza.Com" t-shirt right? And why can't Billy Bob be represented there?
Shoot...if ya wanted to...stick a top hat on the doll and make a Showbiz hatband ( it will then look like a Showbiz Employee hat from the old days! YEAH!)
Billy Bob rules!

Not the best idea, but you shoud try that out, first send the idea to CEC inc. then, see if they like the idea (Dought it :cecwink: ) If they don't, do it anyway.

Corp does not have to know or be involved in this really.......i'm sure even if they did know it would not be of much interest.
Okay, so is it settled then?
CV4 we kick off the pass-around with Chuck?

I've got it, give him a little Rock-A-Fire record, just like when he had the CV program. Then I promise not to whine... :bbembarassed:

Hey, why not do 2 and have them circulate? Maybe Chuck and Billy Bob will cross paths at some point. That might make it more fun to have 2 going around. I'd stop at that though. 3 would get too chaotic. Thoughts?

Ooooo i like Nick's idea: Have Chuck show support for the RAE by holding a mini-45 record!
Yeah, now you're talkin'!!
Of course, you could always make a mini-Earl for his right hand....but that would probably be considered a sacrilidge ( although Chuck DID do this at CV2!)
