I have a question... from the videos/pictures that I have seen... center stage characters have the exact same movements. is this always true? are there any dances where each character did something different?

All the robots are identical in movement under the cosmetics. One of the advantages is they can all move in a syncronized way. To answer your question, yes they do move differently sometimes. Often, Fatz, Billy Bob and Mitzi do the same "dance steps" to songs though to get that vocal/dance group affect. Think of any boyband. They usually do the same steps together. I for one don't have any interest in choreography and am not into those type groups but I think that is what they are going for when the main stage is all doing the same things. I know on "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" Mitzi is in the front singing and Fatz and Billy Bob are just looking around in the background while she sings. The side stage curtains are closed so that song is pretty much just her solo. Fatz and Billy Bob move just enough so they don't look like they are just sitting their idle.

either that or they didnt want to spend time/money programming seperate movements :P

lol

actually that sounds like a good point. i think you are correct. thank you for bringing that to my attention. bands usually do the same steps together.

I dont think time or money had anything to do with it. This show had to be programmd from scratch and each character had to be programmed movement by movement. Again, think of dance groups. New Kids, Back Street Boys etc. They are all doing the same moves. This was deliberate I believe. They are trying to make the RAE look like a dance group.

Actually... :-P ... They did have a small advantage Aaron once told me he incorporated "macros" into his system so that instead of reprogramming each movement everytime, he could save say, billy bobs hand wave , so that he'd only have to hit the macro, etc...

Of course though, he still had full control and I assure you the macro's were only for making the job more efficient. :)

Also, I firmly believe he prob couldnt have even crossed mitzi movements and copied them to say fatz because even though they both have simular motions, each one is completely different in the amount of time the piston must be on vs. off to make the move.

It does depend on the song. I can tell you that for the Macarena they do all the same movements, but for the Beatle's Medley and a few other songs, each character on the center stage does different motions. Each is on their own turntable which is part of a large turntable.

Unfortunetly, do to a system bug, the turn tables were taken out of commission years ago. It was really neat to see when they are in operation. One of the skits Billy Bob chases Fatz and Mitzi around the stage, very funny and amusing to see. It made the show much more entertaining.

To this day it still bothers me that none of them have foot taping movements, cause those are some of the best movments.
