Hi guys-

I noticed a lack of pictures when it comes to the newer version of the RAE. I had some down time the other night and work and took a few quick shots of our N-RAE. I figured some of you might be interested to see how one of the two exhisting newer versions is looking these days.

I have the set kind of decorated for Christmas. The show's big screen TV is currently a fireplace while the show is not operating. I rigged it up so that prior to christmas it would play the fireplace and christmas music between shows. Now I have the christmas music off and it just plays the fire between shows. It gives a neat "homey" effect, complete with cracking sounds LOL. I also decided to give Looney Bird a tree for the christmas season. My hope was to get costumes for teh characters but do to their rapid movements, it was harder than expected to get the hats to stay on.
Hopefully next year I'll be able to dress the rest of the set up a little more.

Take a look at the pics. Let me know what you think.

Wow. That fence keeps kids at least 500 feet from the show. Maybe that is why the characters and stage look almost brand new!

Thank you very much for sharing with us. It looks spectacular. I just wished the Mimi RAE contained my favorites Rolfe & Earle. :(

Man, that show is scarry as hell compared to the Classic RAE! Look at that closeup of Billy Bob...freaky! :| And you know THAT'S what showbiz would be like today...makes you kinda glad it's gone huh.

It's at our Naperville, IL store. We have another NRAE at our Tinley Park store, but Looney Bird is not in service right now.

im new enough here to not really know much about the convention. where is it? when is it? how much does it cost? is it an official cec convention? or just a fan thing? how far is it from odyessy?

Cheesevention as we call it is a yearly get together of CE/PTT AND RAE fans from acrosss theb country. so far there have been 2 Cheeseventions. Check out Billy Bob's Bulletin #47 & #56 for details on both Cheeseventions.

Mike, I have mentioned doing the Convention here in Chicago. There are plenty of things to see and do besides the shows, but there are also some very well maintained CEC stores.

There is also great america, and the big city.

I will again offer my assistance to this when and if anyone is interested. it doesn't even need to be a Vention, but a "get-2-gether".

`M

Plus there are at least a dozen members from the area, or with ties to the area who might be interested in attending.

I would love for a convention of sorts in chicago, me being in southern wisconsin and all would make it so much easier :)

Hey, I can hope can't i?

Worst thing that could happen is:

All of the local folks all agree on a date and time where we might be able to all happen to be at the same place-- at the same time.

I know there are a few Wisconsin native members who are now out of state, but for those of us in the area, we might all just be able to gather on a weekend afternoon, if schedules permit.

Throw out some ideas, or we can start an e-mail thread.

Some of those pictures are, let's just say "ill." I think that link is a little inappropriate now. I think before, it was okay because it seems like the Rock-A-Fire Explosion were the only pictures in that account. Here's a video of the New Rock Afire. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5OJUJTsKuxY&feature=related There are plenty of videos on youtube of the New Rock Afire. They aren't mine though.

Last time, I was at the Naperville location, the new RAE wasn't working. They said they are going to get someone to fix it in a week or so. It should be working by now. In person, that show is really small. It's a shock to see to first see it compared to the other one. I say who cares because it's the Rock-A-Fire though.

In my opinion, I feel that stuff is just messed up in the first years of something brand new. You have a new car, and it doesn't work quite right. The same thing goes for amusement park rides. This show is no exception. I imagine the real old Rock-A-Fire's probably had some technical difficulties at first. It just happens. We had those new LCD screens in my computer lab, and there many that were broke. You can't really trust brand new things. They have new bugs. When you are buying something as expensive as an amusement park ride, I don't think that a business should be the first to have a certain ride. Let other people buy the ride first, and than if it works for them, buy it than. It's not always good to be "ahead of the game" because it will bite you in the butt. I believe the same thing for an animatronic show just like this. Let someone else buy something expensive, and see how there's is working. Being innovative makes you spend a lot of wasteful money.

I really wonder how long Odyssey is going to put up with this show. I hope they never give up with it, but I'm kind of worried that they will just yank it out, and put nothing in it's place. So, if you really want to see it, I say go NOW.
