Hello again everyone,
I know I am new here - so this is probably something everyone else knows...
But during project unification - what happened to the Billy Bob bots? I have a three stage show a block away from my house... and I managed to get the Rolfe Robot right after he was converted to Chuckie (The replaced him because he was "un-fixable")
But I never thought about it till now - they didn't use Billy Bob for anything did they? Are there piles of Billy Bobs sitting around somewhere??
Thanks,
Beth

Yes, the Bolly Bob's were stored and were to be used for spare parts and dismantled, however I'm certain that some stores still have their Billy Bob's in storage cause the store here had theirs still up above the walk in freezer until 98...then got rid of it during a clean out. :(

When many SPP locations with the RAE show turned the locations into Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza circa 1991-1992 with the Munch Band taking over the RAE, many of the Billy Bob robots where used for spare parts.

Hey Now,

I think I see Momma Granbags on the left, and look there, in the center, i think it's Dick Frank's sense of integrity! I knew he wasn't using it anymore!

I so happy I just had to tell someone,,,,
I found a Billy Bob for sale and bought it!!! YEAH!!!!
I am so excited. I was worried about building my own show because I didn't have a Billy Bob... I figured the other guys would be easy to make considering you can still find the CEC bots for sale every now and then.

Didn't Billy Bob buy an tropical island somewhere and settled in it with Loony Bird?

Yes, glad you were able to give Billy Bob a home. It is sad to watch the concept unification tape, especially the part where they tell you to destroy some of the original Rock-afire stuff which will not be used again.

On some of the pictures of Billy Bob, he looks real "wide-eyed" while in others (like the one above on the web page) his eyebrows are titled up in the middle and look more pronounced....
Is this just a trick of lighting - or were there different versions of the animatronic mask?

Oh yes... there were several different "Generations" of Masks. Not just for Billy Bob but for all the characters. If you go to the information section and look at the original brochure for Showbiz you will see the OLD Original show... heck Dook wasn't even a Space Dog then ;) and Fatz had ears!

Another note. Some characters could close their eyes (Fatz, Mitzi, Looneybird and Rolfe) while others eyes could open wider for a surprised look (Uncle Klunk, Billy Bob, Beach Bear and Dook). That is probably likely what you are referring to. The characters that went wide eyes could not close their eyes completely nor could the ones that could close their eyes go wide-eyed. It was one way or the other. :eek

Yeah the masks were changed over the years... there's several versions of each, and most were just a slight change here or there that isn't even noticeable unless you have the two side by side and you're looking critically. For example, some Billy Bob's have straight eyelashes, some a slightly curved - one Beach Bear has like 3 lashes, another has 4, etc.

But as Looneybird78 mentioned there is a very recognizable change that happened around 1982 when the characters were made to look far more friendly. Most of the ones people are used to seeing are the post-82 ones- where Billy Bob has a smooth forehead. The photo of Billy Bob on the website banner is the old version with the baggy-eyebrows. Here's some pics of the very early characters:

rock_afire.tripod.com/fil...itzi80.jpg (http://rock_afire.tripod.com/file/rap/photos/photo_mitzi80.jpg)

These are more scary looking and resemble more of what Disney's Country Bears look like (which I'm sure is what they were going for at the time).

Thanks for the pics! I appreciate the size of them - most of the pics I've found are not so clear or poor scans.
I agree - I like the "new" Billy Bob much more.

Unkle Klunk was AWESOME!

Actually, didn't Klunk's his eyes do both - raise up like Beach Bears AND also fully close like the others. I think Studio C Chuck can do that too (32-movement Chuck, not 16-Movement).

The "New" Mitzi may have been able to do that too (She was cool too). I'm sure some of you will research this :-)

Yes, the Garner-Holt CEC bot' ( "Alpha" versions) can so this with there eye motions.

Alphas can look side to side, straight ahead, blink, and also raise eyelids for hightened expression. They can also raise AND lower their eyebrows. Many folks don't realize this! Those brows move quite a bit...that is, if you are watching a show that is working good.
