Do any of you have any..? :] I'm pretty sure that there's a place for fanart in the "fans" section of the website, but since that's currently under construction, I'd really like to see some art HERE! :3

Anyway... I shall start, obviously! Hahaha. Here's a cartoon sketch I did of Mitzi:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/ambereyedhanyou/mitzi2.jpg

I'm planning on cleaning the sketch up, re-scanning, and coloring in Photoshop. :] Maybe draw a nice background while I'm at it.

What about you guys..?

Here are the inked and colored versions of the first image I posted up here. :3 These are for Damon.. I actually promised him a colored version a LOOOOONG time ago... but I'm a jerk and only just finished now. :/

Ink:

Colored in Photoshop:

I hope he likes it, at least. :/ I really screwed up on inking the cord on her microphone...so it looks really crappy.

Thats some cool fanart, good job on Mitzi my fellow RAE enthusiast. Can you do any of the fellow band members like Fatz, Triple B (Billy Bob Brockali), Dook Larue, Looney Bird or Beach Bear. I'm a hardcore Rock-Afire fan, I got all the original versions of the songs that the RAE covered. I'm currently working on all the RAE songs.

David

Thanky! I drew the characters separately in my sketchbook, first in colored pencil, then in ink, and then I scanned and colored them in Photoshop. Billy Bob's Birthday Bird being the exception: I drew it in Flash with the wacom tablet and then pasted it in.

Awesome, sorry for asking so much but also... When you say you scan in the inked outlines into photoshop, is there a method to capture those outlines in photoshop so that you can easily color each section? Is there like a trace or something?

Thanks again! haha,, I wanna add some drawings myself.

David

Well, I make my scan (usually 300 dpi), and I use alpha channels to get rid of the red or blue pencil lines. I open brightness and contrast and turn contrast all the way up so the lines are true black with no aliasing, and then I adjust the brightness as necessary. I go to grayscale to eliminate the color information, and then go back to RGB so I can start coloring. Hope that helps!

I see, so you actually brush the coloring in then? You cant actually use the fill tool right?

I do indeed! With the lines contrast turned all the way up, the aliasing is eliminated leaving only a true black, so you can easily use the fill tool.

Great work, Kait!
Sorry for starting a new Fan Art thread.:bbembarassed: I didn't know one had already existed. Can a moderator maybe merge them?

Anyway, I thought I'd post some recent Rock-Afire art by my friends (with their permission, of course).

This first one is by my girlfriend, Lindsay Smith. She sketched most of this while watching the run-down Rock-Afire in Indio, hence Beach Bear contemplating his existance. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/TVsKyle/Rock_afire_by_cozmictwinkie.jpg

You can see the DA version here: http://cozmictwinkie.deviantart.com/art/Rock-afire-63532180

This next one is by my co-worker, Bill Drastal. Apparently, my recent fan art stirred up memories in his wife, Karen, who was scared of Fatz when she was little.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v460/TVsKyle/Scared_by_Billdrastal_thumb.jpg

The DA version of that one is here: http://billdrastal.deviantart.com/art/Scared-63684617

Hahaha. I did! ;D And thanks for the compliment!

Love your art. I'm getting my own wacom tablet soon, so maybe I can actually make NICE lineart before I color my stuff digitally. Hahahaha. My scanner always eats whatever I draw.

Thought I'd share these with you guys. :]

Here's some doodles of Mitzi in my Disney-ish style. I plan on doing all the other characters like this soon, too. So expect those. :O

Hahaha Kyle, I was totally thinking of you saying "shut up!" in Fatz' voice when I was drawing this. I almost wrote it on there, actually! I started from scratch on the tablet with this one, but used the drawing I did earlier as reference. I would have used the drawing but I wanted a better expression.

You're welcome. I especially like the little mole you added near her cheek. It's friggin adorable.

And ANGELA - I love how your Queenie has the little doo-whippie side burn thing! I love adding that touch to my characters whenever it supports their design, too. The curved lines you use make your characters look soft, and that's perfect for her character. You guys have inspired me to draw my own Queenie when I get time.

Does anyone know where I can find video of Queenie or Wolf Pack 5? I like her look, but if I like her voice and personality too, I might possibly become a fan ;)

Not to get too far off topic, but here's a video that shows Queenie. It's very short (at least the part of her singing), but that's her original voice - her songs were re-recorded for Mini at ShowBiz except for the vocal in this medley shown in the video. That's the original Foxy voice.

http://rock_afire.tripod.com/videos/cei/cei_wolfpack5.html

Of course, here she's in the cream color dress that Mini was in. The artwork so far (by the way which is great... everyones) is of that blue shirt CEI dressed her in.

I don't think much of the Wolfpack was standardized and odds are not many of these shows were produced. I bet stuff like costumes were changed up if a customer desired. ;)

Hahahaa. I personally love the blue shirt with the rolled up jeans and saddle shoes. I also like the fact that they didn't give her some stupid-ass colored wig, and too much makeup, which is something I don't like much about Mitzi (blonde on grey fur? WTF? ***** makeup? Bad designing decision). They should have stopped at the fox, but I understand the mouse change to go with the pizza theme. And thanks for the video - I saw it on youtube, but was wondering if there was anything better out there :\

Anyway I'll be leaving this site, so thanks to everyone for being cool. Take care of yourselves.

I thought it'd be better if they switched places AND genders ( or at least in this case, since Mitzi's a cheerleader and the only girl). So Dook isn't a guy in girl's clothing, he's a GIRL. And Mitzi's a boy. hahaha. So their names'd have to be different.

kaittttt

:D It's no prob! I don't mind answering questions.

What you gotta do is trace around the entire line you want to ink. Like, bring it back down and click on the anchor point you started with. Then right click and hit 'fill path'. :D

I've seen your drawings and you're very good with proportions and showing depth in your artwork, which is awesome. And since you're so good at drawing realism, cartooning would most likely come easy to you. :D You should try it and post some stuff here!

You have done a splendid job with this drawing, AuraWolf.:) I like it! Mitzi happens to be my favorite RAE member. I find other artwork pieces of the character to be impressive like this one. Once again, you have created a very nice picture of my favorite performer.

Kyle's an awesome artist, and I love his stuff but... my style is mine, and his style is his.

True, true. Kyle's work looks more like Spumco (the company that produced Ren and Stimpy), while Harmony's looks like... well, like hers. I don't really have anything to compare it to.

He wanted a picture of the Rockafire Explosion at Smitty's... IN FRONT OF the Rockafire Explosion at Smitty's. It's the "real" band meeting their robot counterparts (notice that Dook, Mitzi, and Beach Bear are in "street" clothes).

I've been feeling very romantic lately. I've tried to draw Dook and Mitzi kissing like 50 times, but they all fell apart during the process. I'd draw their muzzles wrong, or Dook would be too tall, that sorta stuff. This is the only thing that worked.

If you can't read it, it's lyrics from "Islands in the Stream". DeviantArt's not letting me have the link for the full-sized one.

I'm not 100% sure if I like the shading. It looks like she killed two of the McDonald's Fry Kids for her pom-poms, haha
I really ought to draw the RAE more often!

Everyone has some wonderful artwork on here, but I really like this recent picture in particular. Initially I wasn't too fond of Mitzi, thought she was a bit creepy! But after watching s'more vids and looking over a few more pictures, such as this one I like her right along with the rest as the gang...not as much as Fatz of course, but she's up there!

Oh, I think the "off" cosmetics works really well in that pic! Despite me always being a huge Mitzi fan, I always thought the purple eyeshadow and the red cheeks were both done rather muchly, over-the-top, and/or a bit too thick at times. Seeing some of the new make-up jobs on the new masks on some of these new shows is much more pleasant to see, because the make-up isn't as overdone as it was back then. I love the subtle cosmetic job in your pic. It's way more appealing. *^_^*

Okay, so, I was watching Jeff Dunham, and I was starting to wonder how Rolfe carried Earl around from show to show. It seems like he really likes Earl, and would want to keep him nearby a lot.

Then I remember that Cyberstar tape where Rolfe gushes over him like a baby...

And THEN I remember those over-the-shoulder baby-hanger things moms use. I call them Snugglies.

And then this came out.

(Rolfe's huckster hair= totally unintentional, but AWESOME.)

It’s Funny you should do a drawing featuring these two, as when I think about Rolfe and Earl I have a hard time NOT thinking of them as entirely separate entities…meaning, far as I know Earl up and hops off Rolfes' hand from time to time to flirt with Mitzi and dance and Fatzs’ keyboard while singing ‘I’m so excited’

…Cooky but true.

Wickedly cool picture though, you have a lot of astounding work in this thread, and I really look forward to seeing more. Rolfe doesn’t appear to get much attention far as fan art goes I notice, least I haven’t seen a lot of it.

Well, I was going to wait until I completed a fully inked, digitally color piece to post anything, but I couldn’t wait any longer to post something. Which is why I apologize in advance it’s so rough and gritty looking, though usually my sketches always look this way before inking, and I’m still getting used to a new scanner as well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v180/burlyblueberrybeast/billy.jpg

I got inspired to draw Billy Bob, who didn’t really appeal to me much until after watching the ‘Abbey Road’ Melody featured on this site. I actually watched it again before doing this, and much as the first time I got Goosebumps from an astoundingly amazing piece of animatronic artistry. I wish I could download or get that music so I could listen to it whenever, but instead I settled on simply remixing the original Beatles tracks to follow what they did, and I listened to it while drawing this.

I’ll probably think of Billy Bob every time I hear ‘Golden Slumber’, as well as Earl every time I hear ‘Mean Mr. Mustard’ (that just fit him so seamlessly.) Anyway, enough of my rambling, hope you like the pic. I do intend to ink and color it soon!

I don’t have a gallery at this time, been mulling over the idea of opening an account at deviant art for an eternity but never gotten around to it. Normally when I post work it’s on message boards for the most part, otherwise I just draw for myself or commissions I get now and again. Suppose I should get cracking on that especially if you’d all like to see more, as that’s certainly encouraging…and lord knows I have folders and folders of stuff just collecting dust right now!

Aw thanks Charon, I appreciate that, yea I've always had an affinity for making fur look as 'plush' as possible. No offense to the original artists for the promotional material for RAE and Billy Bob (gosh knows I printed out alot of that stuff for reference) but they never made the characters look as furry as their animatronic counterparts. so I tried really hard to take all the little details the original RAE characters had on stage, and put them into a picture. Fatz was kind of hard, and the only reason I didn't show him first over Billy was because I'm not completely satisfied with how he looks yet.

But no worries folks, I'll get to finishing BB here, and hopefully post some more work soon. I'm actually hoping to draw Beach bear and Rolfe and Earl next, and been scooping up alot of reference for them...hopefully when I've got it all printed and complied someplace I won't need to do this again. One thing I hate most about drawing is collecting and printing reference...but there's alot of good pics on here so it makes it fun.

Thanks again everyone!

Oooookay, forgive the double post in advance, but after the warm reception the first pic I posted got, I felt inspired to hurry things along and draw a second a bit sooner then planned. Fortunately I had a good chuck of today free, and I desperately needed a break from my few commissions I’m working on (digital inking and coloring can be so tedious at times) I did this pic of beach bear.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v180/burlyblueberrybeast/beachBear.jpg

Now, while I’ve seen very little of beach bear in action (he hardly ever sings and is rarely the focus in videos it seems), he instantly strikes me as a sort of mellow, laid back 50’s beach bum that makes me think of ‘beach boys’ music whenever I see him. Now, admittedly I’m not much of a beach boys fan (mom got one of their cds once and listened to it nonstop for ages, by the third ‘round of classic recordings I came close to ripping out the cd and chucking it out the window.) But I do like a handful of their songs, and ‘Don’t worry baby’ has to be my ultimate fav, and to me that song fits BB perfectly.

Anyway, hope you like him, and hopefully that’ll pacify your interest a little while longer until I can get some more drawn, and fully ink and color the rest!

Your art feels familiar (in a good way!), but I can't put my finger on it. And to comment on something you said earlier, about how the RAE's rendition of "Abbey Road" gave you goosebumps... seriously, for me, anytime the RAE performs a song, it's gotta give me those goosebumps or else it just doesn't interest me. I can't just hear it. I have to feel it. With the RAE, the songs they perform have to feel right. They're not just any ol' band covering a song... this is childhood regalia that barely exists these days. They're like a fine aged wine that's so rare to experience in the world through the here and now. They're something to be cherished... something that just everyone who's loved them must feel.

I've got something in the works. It might take a little while though...but hopefully it'll be worth the effort.

Okay, I promised myself I would do original stuff, but the RAE kept calling me back, and LOUD.

Included is the promo photo of Dook's original clothes so A( new fans will know why he's not in a space suit, B( Photoshop users will know how much effort I put into making his shirt look like his shirt!

That is awesome! Love the shirt, plaid is really tricky...I usually cheat and use a texture ;)
I do alot of original stuff too, but fanart's never hurt anyone...in fact, I love to draw other people's characters to warm up :)

He look Irish in the photo of the animatronic, lol. The detail on Dook's shirt is well done. It took hours I bet.

What is it with Dook & Mitzi? I mean come on! Mitzi was a young girl/teenager and isn't Dook an adult? This has been bothering me ever since soembody did math and realized he was at least 40.

Yeah, that was me. Unfortunately, I already had Dook and Mitzi as a pairing in my head when I found out that bit of information, and it kinda won't leave now. (Besides, Dook would be at MOST 40, at LEAST 35, I double-checked my original post.)

And I agree with your concerns. Every now and then my mind goes "... she's, like, 16!" and I go "Oh, yeah, ew", but I can't stop drawing them! That and Fechter paired them up a lot in the Cyberstar showtapes...

But that's another post for another time. I'll sum it up with: They're cute, they're not real, and they're animals, so why the heck not?
