I'll sum it up with: They're cute, they're not real, and they're animals, so why the heck not?
Hahaha, exactly.
Also, how did you figure out Dook's age?

And I agree with your concerns. Every now and then my mind goes "... she's, like, 16!" and I go "Oh, yeah, ew", but I can't stop drawing them! That and Fechter paired them up a lot in the Cyberstar showtapes...
But that's another post for another time. I'll sum it up with: They're cute, they're not real, and they're animals, so why the heck not?
I think the reason that so many people pair them up is because their fur is the same color, but they are good together. There's one Cyberstar that has Mitzi getting active with almost every guy!

What? Their fur isn't the same color at all.

I think it was mentioned on Dook's character page that he went through a test period where he had gray fur. And the ORIGINAL Mitzi (named Mini) had brown fur. But current Dook and Mitzi are NOT the same color in the slightest.

He mentioned that he was at the TWIRP dance when "Hey Jude" first came out in the Rock and Roll Cyberstar showtape. I looked up when "Hey Jude" came out (it was something like 1965, I can't remember exactly), assumed that Dook was somewhere between 13 and 18 around that time, and counted up to the year the showtape premiered.
(Although it is possible that the line was SUPPOSED to be something like "when I first heard that song" and Chaupetta flubbed it. Chaupetta might've been breaking character and talking about himself, too. It's impossible to tell. It is weird though; somewhat canonically, Fatz is 11, Billy Bob is 4, Dook is in his mid-to-late 30s, and yet everyone in band outside of Mitzi can remember the 60s. There's a bit of a discrepancy, there.)

Haha, wow! Interesting.
It's weird, I've always wondered the 'ages' of these characters...same goes for Munch's Make-Believe Band.

I guess for Billy Bob, 4 is old in bear years, and 11 is old in gorilla years. Idk, thats what I'm guessing. Who said Fatz was 11?
Most of MMBB seems to be teens or young adults. Munch and Pasqually are probably in their 20s, while Chuck E., Helen, and Jasper are probably 14-18.

Whaaat? I totally pegged Chuck at around his late 20's (actually, it'd make the most sense to me that he's at least 30), Helen in her early 20's (she's still in that giggly boy crazy stage)...Munch college-age (he is TOTALLY a frat boy) and Jasper + Pasqually around their late 30s/early 40s or so...(Jasper's an old-fashioned kind of guy with multiple jobs and plenty of 'life experience' on the road, whereas...Pasqually has a moustache :)))
We do know, that according to the CEC 'canon' (if there is such a thing...I base my theories around showtape dialogue), they're all old at least enough to drive/own their own home.

That seems right. Chuck E. must be one in-shape mouse to be in his late 20s!

There's no WAY Pasqually's that young, but this isn't the CEC board, so I'm not going to concentrate on it too much.
Fatz said he was 11 in the... Trivia Night showtape, I believe. I looked it up, too; 11 is about the age where gorillas go silverback, so Fatz is up there in years.
Billy Bob is a youngin', though! Grizzly bears can live up to 25 years!
Eew, another creepy thought. Mice are ready to breed at about a month old, so for Mitzi to be in the mouse equivalent of puberty, she'd only be about... 3 1/2 weeks old...
Dook: (goes pale and sits down)
Mitzi: What can I say? I like older men. (giggles)

I always thought that the MMBB characters were supposed to be really young (like the demographic they make shows for). In fact doesn't Munch reference being a "loveable kid" in one of the earliest LIVE shows from the late 80s?
Fatz says he's 11 (in gorilla years) in the second "Letters to Looney Bird" sketch on the Magic Night reel. Mitzi also turns 17 (at the stroke of midnight) between 1987 and 1988.
But take all of that stuff with a grain of salt... there's a lot of continuity errors made throughout the years in the showtapes. In the intro to "My Woman My Woman My Wife" (1984/85) Looney Bird confesses to not having a mother, and in Homely For Christmas (1987), his mother is out in the audience waiting for him to sing "Ave Maria".
So yeah, trying to lock down some of these character details can make one's head hurt.

Phew, gone for a few weeks and there's nearly three pages I have to sift through, and when exactly did their ages become an issue? *laughs* Dook doesn't at all look too old for Mitzi to me personally, I never gave Charons pairing of the couple a second glance. Mostly because when I first found about the RAE, I was watching videostar segments like a madman, and in those segments Dook and Mitz were always paired together one way or another. So, basically even the people who assembled those skits knew that 'yea, they go together all right.'
Dook doesn't look that old to me however, if you judge by the conception animatronics then...yea, everyone save Mitzi and maybe fatz appears as if they're over 50 due to the over emphasized detail in their faces. Something I'm overly fond of, all the attention to detail, but happy just the same they didn't stick with that else I'm not sure I'd be as fond of them as I am. I love Billy but that prototype of him...eeeeeeegh.
But back to art, Some wonderful pics as Always Charon, I was looking forward to seeing your artistry when I returned and as I knew I was not to be let down.

Munch was always referred to as 'the kid of the group'...so it makes sense to me that he's probably a goofy teenager or college kid.
I never really saw them as being young despite the demographic...considering they all drive cars, haha.

Anyways, another request from RAEBigC.
Ah, behind the scenes. Beach Bear getting his possum-fur brushed by the ever-cheesed-off Fatz Geronimo, Billy Bob's just tryin' to order some Chinese food, Looney Bird is bored, Dook does NOT wanna put on make-up (regardless of the fact that Mitzi's doing it for him), and on top of all that, Rolfe cannot, for the life of him, remember where he put Earl.
Big sentence, yes, but that's the way it goes.
And as a side note, THIS WAS FREAKIN' HARD. I spent, like, 3 days coloring this thing! (passes out) Can I please ask that somebody draw Dook for me please? I'd really appreciate it, and it'd give me the little extra push I need to finish the next one...

S'more wonderful work Charon, simply charming artistry.
The first where the gangs 'getting ready' it appears, you can really appreciate all the hard work you put into it. I know the horrible drudgery of digitally coloring pictures (ugh, do I ever.) which is why it's taken me so long to finish the first few pictures I've shared...still trying to get commissions out of the way! I'm too much of a perfectionist at times...well, all the times to be precise. You can really see all the patience and care put into it though, magnificent.
i'm not sure if I commented on the colored version of mitzi and dook already, but I still really like that one as well. I realize IO haven't been here long, but if I didn't know better I'd swear you're already improving by leaps and bounds in what I've seen in the few short months I've been here!
Lasty, but certainly not least, the superhero RAE, easily my favorite of the new works you've shared. Super fatz is AWESOME, and Billy Bob is outstanding as well...you really can't go wrong however you draw that bear. The coloring is eye-popping as well, I really enjoy seeing your pictures in color like that.
As ever, keep up the cosmically impressive work!

Some of the Rockafire Explosion in winter attire. From left to right:
Billy Bob's a grizzly bear, and he's used to the cold, so he's not wearing anything. Looney's all puffed up and chilly.
Dook's not wearing much, because dogs like cold (to a certain degree). He never takes off those boots, I swear...
Beach Bear WOULD be walking around in his swim trunks if he weren't so skinny. Since he's missing a large layer of subcutaneous fat, he needs a hunter's vest to keep him warm.
Fatz, ever fabulous, has a golden and silver faux-fur coat, and he's STILL cold!

Jealous of little ol' me? Or jealous of Mitzi? Heck, I'm jealous of Mitzi in this picture, and I drew the thing! That's gonna be the first thing I do if I ever go to an RAE restaurant; I'm huggin' the Dook bot.
Ever since I saw Mitzi when I was a kid, I've always wanted to hug her. But I knew better not to touch them. I was always afraid that they were fragile and they'd break. 'cause I'd feel so bad if I ruined such wonderful works of art; I respect them way too much. *^_^*;;;;

Oh, and bad. Did I mention bad?

AWW Is that Choo-Choo Beach Bear is holding??
Yep! In my head, during potential group scenes like this one, Beach Bear is ALWAYS holding somebody on his shoulders so they can see above crowds. Usually it's Mitzi, sometimes it's Dook, but this time I decided to draw Choo Choo because nobody EVER draws Choo Choo.
(On an unrelated note, kinda, Beach Bear, in my drawings, will never be holding Looney Bird. Holding Looney Bird is Billy Bob's job. ... my mind works in weird ways, it's best to just ignore anything I saw that isn't a drawing.)

A request from someone on deviantArt named Rock-Zilla. That wouldn't be you, would it, Isabella Price? You both seem to be Beach Bear fans!
Anyway, Rock-Zilla's memory of SPP was of the band singing "Heartaches" and Beach Bear patting Fatz's shoulder in a comforting gesture. She wanted something like that.
I'll color it later, hopefully.

Phew...I hate being away for a bit but one thing I do love is catching up on this thread.
Charon, your cleverness and imaginative situations you conjure up in art of the RAE never cease to amaze me. Honestly when I log on here, one of the first things I do is check this topic to see what wonderful work you've posted recently, you've got me that addicted! Heh, admittedly though my favorite aspect about your pictures is you feature Fatz quite alot, in a number of numerous situations that never fail to make me smile. I really have to get msyelf back in gear and draw him myself...but I wanted to finish my last two pictures first, epsecially billy.
Now if I can just get all my other projects out of the way still, Christmas was jsut so hectic and I wanted so much to post something christmas related...maybe in July I'll get to it!
But my rambling aside great work as always!

Woa, didn't expect to see all this stellar stuff here this morning.
More fantastic stuff Charon, though I'm curious their poses remind me of something but I can't place my finger on it, did you base it off of something?
And Wow Isabella, more stellar stuff from you...you're beach bears are dead on perfect to the original characters and art n' stuff, but with their own unique flair as well. I'm curious though do you ink these in photoshop along with color them there? I used to do most of my inking by hand but once I got a tablet found it was somewhat less trying to do it digitally...I just don't use photoshop for that, heh.

It's called Caramel Dansen, Fatz Geronimo. It's a sort-of played-out Internet meme featuring (usually) two characters doing that dance to a Swedish pop song. Look it up on Youtube, you'll find lots and lots of results.
EE! I have to get caught up on coloring mine. I don't use Photoshop to much anymore (no Tablet, and I'm sick of coloring stuff on a mouse), so I just have to break out the Prismacolors and get to it.

oh I thought so but wasn't sure, my complaint with inking by hand (other then it being dreadfully tedious) was my pens always seemed to be too thick for the detail I wanted. I can't really say doing it digitally has changed that so much but it's less of a headache if I make a mistake, I can just erase it.
REALLY need to get an example of something finished on here already...

Oh memes...huh, well it still doesn't ring a bell but I probably glimpsed on it while looking at something else. Hardly go on youtube for anything but Rockafire stuff and watching old cartoon shows and commercials.
I would finish my stuff with colored pencils too if it weren't for me having my heart set on doing something digitally...least the billy bob one I have some wicked ideas for how that's going to look finished.

When the video was over I asked him if he liked them better than the ones at CEC. He had this freaked out look on his face and shook his head 'no'. He continued to tell me that Beach Bear was the freakiest thing he's ever seen and that he doesn't like him.

Huh, your comic made me realize that, yes Indeed Charon the majority of artists are females...meaning I'm a Minority, go me!
Though for as much as I like Mitzi I can't fathom ever requesting her in any of those 'situations', hm, is it bad if I'm not turned on by a mouse? *lol*

And Isabella, My, my the astounding things you're coming up with, I love the pictures you do of beach bear, you capture him beautifully. Dook as well, Oh...I'm feeling so bad I'm somewhat out of the artistic loop right now. But I'll hop back in soon.

Indeed some very cool art in here from the both of you [Charon and Isabella]!
I've actually got a little piece up my sleeve that's gonna be posted up soon. I credit you, Isabella, for really inspiring me more than I already was with the art in here to draw another RAE piece. It's [unfortunately] not Beach Bear but I can hope that you guys will enjoy it none-the-less.
Yay! I find it amusing that you said that, because I was looking at your CEC art and I was inspired to draw some of the other characters. I've got a bunch of classic Chuck and Mr. Munch art that I'm coloring now! :)

I think the final thing is a billion times better than the original lineart. Thank goodness you can edit what you don't like in Photoshop!

Thanks! In all honesty, I feel that my art has grown into it's own style because of learning to draw the RAE and MMBB. If you look back to my earlier stuff in the CEC art thread, I pretty much based it all on an official image, but now here I am doing original stuff of the characters by still using references (like your pieces with Mitzi & Dook and a real image for her fur color), but they are something new and enjoyable. I still enjoy adding my own touch to an official piece for practice of course.
@Harmony: Thanks! I'm really glad you guys can enjoy my art. It's a fuzzy feeling.

Aww, you're welcome. Encouragement's what keeps me going as well. It just makes it feel like.... all the hard work it took to make the piece paid off, ya know? When nobody says anything (or rather types anything), it kinda feels like you get left out, or nobody enjoyed your piece and nobody likes that. There's always something cool you can find in a piece of art, IMO. :)
I honestly felt the same way a few days ago when I posted a piece of photography I'd shot and then a revamp of another pic I did ages ago (I humbly thank Darryl for responding to those with a simple message). Wow, I ranted on... But alas, such is the world of art. I try not to take it too personally (Besides, I'm sure everyone gets tired of me posting pics of only Chuck all the time). ^_^;;;

Well, that's DeviantArt for you in a nutshell. There's only so many categories people look at, and you've gotta admit... Our favorite bands don't seem to have as large as fanbase as anime characters or anthros do (which seem to be two of the largest categories of art) at least one that's online and knows there's art out there. I honestly fave and run a lot on dA myself. I know I shouldn't but I feel redundant when I post "awesome detailing" or "amazing work!!" or anything of that nature. However, since I know you a bit better I feel I can leave a conversational comment now and then.
As for all that you've done with my picture (or pictures, feel free to download 'em all if ya want, I don't mind) and to your enjoyment of it: awesomesauce! Would you mind if I uploaded my photo manip of Munch to my dA account? Proper creds would go to you of course for the shot.
To get back on the topic of RAE-related art...I really should do another piece. I enjoyed drawing Mitzi, which was a completely original piece. It exercises my creative flow when I do this kinda thing.... I've been contemplating Beach Bear, but I don't know if I'm ready to tackle him... I don't want to butcher him or anything. :))

Exactly. And the front page refreshes so fast nobody even gets the chance to see your art. :( That's why I've switched to posting my work up on FA. Plus, the majority of my work is anthro & RAE/CEC (which, in a way, are technically anthro). I seem to get a lot of comments and faves, and commissions there as opposed to DA.

Totally should do it. Sure, there'd only be a few of us, but maybe it'd catch on, ya know? That way there'd be quality CEC/RAE stuff instead of mostly DevIDs and lousy photo manipulations like "El Chuckacabre" although I do enjoy that one. :)) What I do know for sure about dA clubs is that it's set up like a regular account, and anyone who wants to join basically watches said account. It's a place where everyone's contributions come together in a sort of melting pot.

New art (and it isn't another magazine cover, but I think it's as cool)!!!!! I just know you guys are gonna love it. My first [serious] attempt at Beach Bear (you should see the one I did without ref. Oh lord it was kinda bad) with a reference from the good old photo gallery. Doesn't look like the photo, but I dig how it made itself into something original. I actually drew this one exactly the same again from scratch a day later out of boredom, but this is the original of the two.

I love his face, and his hair, and his lei, and his fur, and his eyes, and and and....

A crossover I've been wanting to do for some time now. If you get it, you win a million internets. If you don't, I'll explain later.

WOW =D XD
I never was a fan of the game, though I thought the art style was interesting.
If RAE characters infested the game, I'd actually care about it. XD (LOLOL)
AWESOME work! =D ^_^

Nice to see a parody of that game. I think most people will get it because the game's so popular. It's also great t see some work from you again!

I really have NO clue where to put crossover pictures, so I just try to draw a lot of them so I can keep both the fanart threads active.

Also, I don't know when my brain decided Rolfe and Chuck should be friends, but it won't let go of me now. Help!

It's great to see some art coming from you again, Charon. Especially for this thread! I'll attempt to help you quit your "Chuck and Rolfe are friends" addiction.
IT'S ALL A LIE! THEY'RE ENEMIES! Are ya cured now? :))

Imma be honest, I NEVER visited a Showbiz Pizza. Probably because I'm from Philly, and I don't think there were as many up north. But if I HAD been to SPP as a child, my favorite character probably would have been Billy Bob. :3 When I draw RAE characters, I draw them more cartoony than realistic, because. . . well, I like them better that way. XD

That Billy Bob's really cute, SlapHappy!
I wanted to do another Dook picture, and while I think it's better than my first try, I'm still not completely satisfied with it (something about the shape of his face). However, it looks great with the space background.

Oh wow, portrait-style! I like what you did with Dook's suit, too. How'd you get that metallic-y pattern? But anyway, HOORAY! I'm always happy to see more of Dook!

I had downloaded some brushes for Photoshop from deviantART that had stars included. I used one of the round star brushes and set it reaaaallllyyyy large so I could cover more area and to make the texture feel more believable. The preset size made it look to busy and more like one of those annoying blank TV screens with the annoying noise.

Without further ado, I give you some great Dook art. Yes, it's essentially like the last one I did, but this one's more epic and realistic.
dA limited this one's size, so click here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v336/Pinkscorchio/CEC/DookColoredDA-1.png) for a larger image.

EPIC WIN. (dies a little from the joy)
LOOK AT HIM! Look at how realistic he is! The tiny neck! The super-smile! EVEN THE ANGLE OF THE EARS AND THE HAT IN RELATION TO HIS HEAD! JOYGASM! Saving to the hard drive!

Some nice, hand-drawn RAE fanart from me! I like to imagine Dook and Beach Bear are homeboys, y'know? Best of pals. :3

BACK FROM THE DEAD!
Now that I know how the pen tool works, I'mma definitely do more fanart. Hopefully for you boys, less of Rolfe and Chuck crossdressing... but it's not likely.

I made that Klunk picture in an interesting way...
What I did was I took a picture from ShowBiz Pizza.com and using MS Paint edited Pixel by Pixel and I took everything else out. Then I made the background green and where his chair was I made blue!
Then I went into a video editing program and used a Chroma Keyer Effect (Green Screen Replacement) and put the picture of the farm in for the green and the picture of the barrell for the blue! =D
I'll do more characters later!
