Ok, so I had been planning to take a trip to Conyers, GA. to visit Billy Bob's Pizza Circus. Mostly because of the RAE. There are plenty of similar places all over Atlanta, but you know...a little nostalgia.
So friends and I had planned to make the trip (about an hour or two from Atlanta). Have a blast with the RAE and the assorted games. Also we planned to buy plenty of pitchers of the watered down beer they sold.
Can anybody say drunken mini golf?
This was a big plan for us. We were all going to get a hotel room to continue the party after we either got kicked out or the place closed.
Then the other day I decide to call up the place, for directions and information. Prices and such. It became apparent that there was no music in the background. So I just asked about their RAE show....
It was removed years ago... WTF?!?!?!?!
So basically they have just the images and name of Billy Bob and no big freaking singing robots. Whats the point? I looked through the sites blog the other day and sho nuff, there it was. An entry from 2001 where Veganova found out in person.
So after that useless bit of backstory, here is the actual point of this post. How can they use the Billy Bob character and name legally? I mean, the lady Veganova talked too claimed the company that provided the RAE had went out of buisness. So that would imply that they had aquired their RAE from outside sources, I imagine. Maybe Im wrong, could be. It happens. But something about this place seems awful sketchy to me.

The company that built the RAE is not out of business.
They only have a few emplyees now, but they certainly aren't out of business. Creative Engineering is still around. They never aquired it from outside sources. I'm not sure what the story is on it and I'm not even sure the lady that he talked to knows. If she wasn't the owner; she would definately not know. I wonder what they did with that show... hmmmmmm...... LOL! Aaron aparently isn't fooling with that bunch. After all; they probably aren't making enough money to really be doing serious copyright infringment damage.
If you want to see a Rock-afire Show; going to visit one of the people who owns a show would be your best bet. That's also the only way you'll see a Rock-afire in any kind of good shape.

Nah, Creative Engineering is still around...just selling off what shows are still left in the warehouse. It's basically just the founder now Aaron Fechter selling what's left. Read through the Showbiz Pizza and Rock-afire threads you see where alot of people have met him already and met most of the character voices from the Rock-afire! ;)

yeah, I know CEI is still around. What I wonder is, did they get the band from another group who owned it. Like owned the show and set it up for them. Obviously under the table. I mean, why would they say that the company went out of buisness is the reason the show was removed? Doesnt make much sense to me, obviously the lady wasnt the owner. But an employee from a place like that probably was asked that question often and was given an answer by somebody in managment.
As far as seeing RAE anytime soon, there isnt anymore in GA now. And unless I have a big trip planned, I dont see myself going to other states for them alone. Gas is just too costly these days.

Hmm, it's possible people buy these characters individually too from other collecters and it has nothing to do with or involves Aaron Fechter or Crative..I got my character from just someone who got them when a 3-stage CEC closed... I just traded him stuff for it...8)

When I went to CEI on that same trip (be glad that you didn't actually drive all the way out there), I mentioned to Aaron that they had pulled their show out and told me that his company was out of business. The only thing he said was they had better not have sold the show because they legally weren't supposed to do that.
The Pizza Circus place (from what I've been told by other fans who worked on their show when they still had it) was that it was totaly crap. Years of no matinence can do that, so my guess is that it got to the point where it was just unbearable and they took it out. Could have been bought or leased from CEI, could have been leftover from an old SPP franchise. Not sure on that.
As to how they can legally still use Billy Bob's name - they might have bought into a franchise agreement that still allows them to do so. Or CEI just isn't bothering to worry about them legally. From what I understand there's several customers that have leased the show selector from CEI and haven't made payments on it for years. It's just not worth it for Aaron to legally pursue them I guess. :rolleyes

On a side note... there is a show alittle more north in West Virginia called Billy Bobs Super Wonderland. It too has a poor show, but its a show none the less.
Also there should be a personal show going up in Phenix City, Alabama soon to...
So there are two options that wounldn't be an unbearable driving distance as like coming to see my show here in Southern Mississippi!~

xD It's ALSO possible that that woman had absolutely no idea what the hell she was talking about and wanted to sound smart by giving you a more specific (and wrong) answer..? Haha.

LOL if everyone else wasnt saying it was also gone Id question if that employee was just stupid. When I lived in Iowa I wanted to go see the last 3 stage show I knew was around before I moved. It was about 2 hrs away in Cedar Rapids. We called a head of time and asked "Do they still have all the robots? Not just one Chuck E?" The girl asked "WHAT ROBOTS?" LOL!!!! Several tries later she said she thought they did...and we did go and yes they still had a good show. Sometimes these people (even the native English speakers) are just whacked in the head :rolleyes

Im not sure. I havent been to either of those since I was little. However I recall (a few years ago) someone on here saying 1 of the Des Moines stores had Studio C and 1 had the 3 stage. If thats true I think (at the time) there were only 3 3 stages in the state and one was on the brink as it was (dont remember what city.)
