I was listening to one of the sirius radio stations, which plays nothing but songs from the 80s, and listened to a song called "What Have I Done To Deserve This" by the Pet Shop Boys and was thinking this could have been a good song for the Rock-afire Explosion to play and sing to. I could imagine Mitzi singing along with Dook in the song.

Another song I thought the band could sing is "The Never Ending Story" which is from the movie. It's another song I can picture Dook and Mitzi singing together.

Nah man some cool Rock afire songs...Everytime I hear this I can see the Rock afire doing this with Dook singing "More than a feeling" by Boston. As for something new " Beverly Hills" By Weezer with Beach Bear singing the lead. Of course with there original voices.

I did make a thread about a few months ago noting how the lead singer for Boston sounds the same as the guy who does the voice of Dook.

And yes, anything done by Boston would be great. That was one freakin awesome band!

Another 70's song is "Sky High" by Jigsaw. I could see Dook singing that song. It sounds like him a little bit.

I have a question about a song they DID sing...
There is a song that Billy Bob sings..."We're having a birthday party - today is a special one... and having a borthday party is a lot of fun..." is how it starts out.
Can anyone tell me if Aaron wrote this song - or is it a song just performed by the RAE for Showbiz?
I like the song, it's a sweet song.

If memory serves... Burt Wilson wrote it (SAL's Bday)... Between Aaron, Burt, and Duke there were several Original songs made for the Rockafire Explosion!

I know I answered a post like this awhile back, and I hope i'm not just repeating myself...but everytime I hear Don Henley's "Boys of Summer," song I think of Beach Bear...also, I love Kenny Chesney's "No shoes, no shirt, no problem..." I can picture Dook singing that. Hmmm, what else? Of course maybe a Meat Loaf song. Or Mitzi doing Patti Smyth's "The Warrior."

Oh! And also, maybe Dook singing "Baby, Hold on," by Eddie Money. I LOVE that song. And another song I love right now is "Lost in Love," by Air Supply-I can see Billy Bob and Mitzi doing that song. :)

"I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow would be perfect for Mitzi as lead vocal.

"Is She Really Going Out with Him?" Joe Jackson

There is a song for the RAF, sung by Beach Bear, not Joe Jackson.

I would really love to hear Beach Bear sing "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake, Dook singing "This Love" by Maroon 5, Mitzi singing "1985" by Bowling For Soup and "Complicated" by Avril Lavigne

Those are all I can think of for now, what songs from 2002-present would you love to hear the RAE perform.

I am a huge rock fan. There are several songs that I can easily picture them singing. I think it would be neat if they covered some material that I find to be very powerful.

For example:

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-"You Got Lucky", "The Waiting", "Refugee", "Here Comes My Girl", "Baby's a Rock N' Roller", "I Need to Know", "Don't Do Me Like That", and "Jammin' Me", which really has lots of punch and power. Dook could sing all of these. I don't think the band ever did anything by this formidable rock outfit.

I also like the music of KISS. I've tried to imagine them performing the hard-hitting debut album track "Black Diamond", with Billy Bob handling the intro and Dook singing the rest.

Beach Bear would be the logical choice for "Candy Store Rock" by the almighty Led Zeppelin.

I have pictured Fatz handling the vocals for Gordon Lightfoot's classic song "Sundown".

Mitzi should sing "Take Me Away" from the new version of the movie Freaky Friday. "Circle in the Sand" by Belinda Carlisle would be another good choice for her. And, of course, just about anything by the Pretenders.

If they were to ever perform anything by shock-rock master Alice Cooper those songs would sung by Earl.

Oh this is gonna be fun-

TV Party by Black Flag
B-boy hard by Phunk Junkeez
When Darkness Falls by Killswitch Engaged
Saddam A Go-Go by Gwar
Stop F**king with me by Little John and Slayer-I can just hear Fatz taking the role of Little John
Wine Stained Lips by Catch 22

thats all I got right now.

what? we all say Showbiz was for an older audiance right :P

I would love to hear them sing "Sweet Caroline" By Neil Diamond, "I got you babe" by Sonny & Cher, "Don't Stop Belivin" by Journey, "Live By The Groove" from the movie, The Wizard, for 70s fans "Stayin' Alive" by The Bee Gees, "Chain Reaction" by Journey, "White Wedding" by Billy Idol, for novelty & gamers, "Pac-Man Fever" and one of my all time favorites, "The Goonies R good enough." I would love to hear more oldies done by them, because that's what made them pop culture icons of the 80s.

Believe it or not, this thread has immediate importance to me, the Rock-afire, and a new customer who has just bought the 2nd to last show I have in my warehouse. His name is Hmoud and is from Jordan. The show will be installed in the first entertainment center of its kind in Jordan.

I will elaborate more on this new project in the future, but the interesting part as far as this thread is concerned is that the customer wants some new showtapes featuring modern, up to date songs.

So, I am particularly interested in your responses to this question. I like the suggestions for "Rock you Body" and Hmoud is requesting that Mitzi sing "My Hips Don't Lie".

Now, one thing that may disappoint the purists is that we will probably use the records as opposed to covering the songs with the real character voices. It's very difficult for a single customer to afford entirely new showtapes done the way we did them when chain of more than 100 restaurants could split the production costs.

There are other disppointing elements of this deal which is sure to start a furor among the purists, but those will be saved for another post. I may even just stay out of it and let Jenn tell you. It's sort of like, "We had to sell your baby brother to put food on the table" (lol) But, now that you are prepared, don't take it too hard. Remember that this show is way over in Jordan, is still wonderful to the people who have never seen it and don't know what they're missing, and you can help me pick the modern songs the RAE will be performing there.

Admittedly, it wouldnt be a kids place :S

I can picture Dook doing a great Disco Inferno, unless that's been done before?

Since Aaron wanted some new modern songs for the Rock-afire Explosion to sing, I'd pick "Better Now" by Collective Soul. Sounds like a song either Dook or Beach Bear would do.

As far as older songs are concerned, "Dangerous Type" by The Cars would be a great choice for Dook to sing.

I said it once i'll say it again "I Want To Know What Love Is" by "Foreigner" would be a GREAT song to go w/ it's really popular right now and I could just see Beach Bear rocking out to that

How about the RAE covering "Move Along" by The All-American Rejects or for the oldies fans, "You Can't hurry Love" by Diana Ross & The Supremes.

I could see Beach Bear singing that that song by Foreinger.

Be a little too weird to hear Fatz sing it though, since he has a deep voice.

I have always thought that Billy Bob could do a wonderful cover version of "You're My Best Friend" by Queen. It could be a great buddy song for him to sing to Looney Bird!

I also have thought that Dook could do a fab version of E.L.O's "ROck n' Roll is King".....it just fits him so well!

I think that everybody would like to hear the group perform the new wave smash "Obsession" by Animotion. Dook and Mitzi would sing this number together. Does anybody remember this song? It is a huge favorite for me.

During her peak years, Joan Jett did a rendition of Gary Glitter's "Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)". I can easily picture Mitzi singing this song. This powerful number would
definitely rock the house!

I think that Dook sounds somewhat like Peter Criss of the KISS band. I previously mentioned one of thier selections that he sings that I can imagine Dook handling. Well here's another one: "Baby Driver". This one also kicks really hard.
Has anyone ever heard this one before?

Ever since my RAE interest came back into full swing, I have been looking through my archive of compact discs trying to find compositions that I think the group should perform. Even though I have already mentioned a relatively long list of cuts that I can easily visualize them singing, I have made yet another batch of selections that I think would also be of considersation to just about anyone, like myself, that enjoys the world of rock n' roll. Let's face it, the possibilities are seemingly endless; being that there's an almost infinite number of songs out there. I have lots and lots of favorite songs and that is the truth!

I think that the Grateful Dead tracks "Truckin'" and "One More Saturday Night" would make audiences glow with happiness. "Already Gone" by the Eagles could also work out for the group. The U2 song "Desire" is one that I think most people would really like to hear them to play. There are some numbers by the Talking Heads that I would also suggest: "Life During Wartime" and "Burning Down the House".

And the rest.......

The Doobie Brothers-"Listen to the Music" and "Black Water"
Herman's Hermits-"I'm Into Something Good"
Judas Priest-"Evening Star"
Bread-"If"
The Bangles-"Manic Monday"
Van Halen-"Jamie's Cryin'"
Loggins and Messina-"Your Mama Don't Dance"
REO Speedwagon-"Keep on Loving You"
Styx-"Too Much Time on My Hands"
Cat Stevens-"Moonshadow"

This is a topic that I have become passionately hooked on! Once more, I am a huge rock fan!

I keep getting an image of the RAE performing "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz with a couple of radio edits and slight revisions in lyrics. Here, check it out:

<Mitzi> o/~ Feel good! Feel good! Feel good! Feel good! Feel good! Feel good! Feel good! Feel good!

<Beach Bear> o/~ City's breakin' down on the camel's back. They just gotta go cause' they don't know jack! And all you fill the streets, it's appeallin' to see! You won't get get undercounted cause you're livin' free! You got a new horizon, it's an ephemeral style. Meloncholy town where we never smile. And all I wanna here is a message beep, my dreams have got to kissin' cause I don't get to sleep, no.

<Dook> o/~ Windmill, Windmill for the land! Learn forever, hand in hand! Take it all there on your stride! It is ticking, fallllling down. Love forever, love is free, let's turn forever you and me. Windmill, Windmill for the land! Is everybody innnn?

And for some reason I keep thinking Earl and Fatz would trade off on the rap portion.

Ah well. I get some weird daydreams. :)

I'd love to see them play Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" with either Dook or Beach Bear singing the lead.

Or I could easily see Dook singing "Free Ride" by Rascal Flatts (or the Edward Winter Group, depending on your era).

Mitzi of the RAE should sing at least one of Gwen Stefani's songs ("What You Waiting For", "Hollaback Girl", "Cool", and "The Sweet Escape").

I have come across another handful of cuts that I can picture the group performing. These are tracks that I'm sure others would like to see them play as well. I have lots of favorites from the many styles that fall into the genre that appeals to me most.

Did the RAE ever sing "Land of 1,000 Dances"? This is a song that would I would definitely like to hear them perform. All the members would join in on this number. However, Fatz would sing the verses.

Lee Michaels had a hit song many years ago called "Do You Know What I Mean?". Dook would handle the lead on this one.

I don't think that Mitzi has performed any songs by Madonna. Of all the cuts that come from this artist, I think that "Open Your Heart" would be best for her. "Lucky Star" is another likable choice. Mitzi should also sing "Lotta Love" by Nicolette Larson.

I am uncertain if the unit ever played anything by Fleetwood Mac. I like "Don't Stop" and I think the RAE would play it well with Beach Bear singing lead. He would also do a splendid job on "Miracles" by Jefferson Starship and "Missing You" by John Waite.

"Moonlight Feels Right", the one big hit from Starbuck, is a track that could work out fabulously for Billy Bob. He could also handle many of the selections that were cut by Donovan (Leitch).

The rock outfit Rare Earth recorded a track during its heyday called "I Just Want to Celebrate". This is a number that I think a lot of Rock-fire fans would love to hear them play. "I Just Want to Celebrate" is a certified party song and every band member would have its turn here. This cut is a definite winner!:)

More then a feeling by Boston.
