I am thrilled to annouce that we have finally settled on a DATE and a PLACE for this years' annual CEC/Showbiz Pizza Fan Convention!

I will annouce it this weekend...so keep yer eyes on this thread! All of us on the CV commitee are very excited about this years' changes and we hope the fans will be too.

Here now...Ladies and Gentlemen, is the OFFICIAL announcement!


This years CheeseVention will be held in IRVING, TX -- Friday July 21,22,23 2006!

For those new to CheeseVention, this is the officially UN-official Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza Place FAN CONVENTION! This will be our 3rd year...and we have some special activities and acttractions lined up for everyone who braves the Texas Summer to join us!


This year i am thrilled to annouce that our own Captian Slappy, longtime PTT and RAE fan, had graciously excepted to co-host this Event for us...so CV3 will be held at his own home in the Irving Area. As many longtime readers know, Mike is a well respected enthusiest in all things related to animatronics from these great entertainment complexes in their heyday. He has a vast personal collection of many fantastic items, many of which will be on display, including his incredible Shows!

More details will follow in the CV3 thread.

So now you know....TX is "The Place to Be" for CV3!!

That's one thing that it's probably not too early to be thinking about... where everyone will be staying. If we can all get into the same hotel that would be awesome, that worked out great for the last two events. Made transportation and getting together easier.

Plus it would make it easier to hang out during the 'off-times' of the event for those who stay the whole weekend. :)

Hey gang, I am going to look around over in that area and find out what hotels there are. There are quite a few as DFW airport is just down the street from CECE. I'll see what hotels are in the area and everything probably early next week. I live about 30 or 40 minutes away from Irving but getting to my place is not hard. It's basically a straight shot. As we get closer we'll get our game plan together as to what we are going to do and where we are going to go. I will tell you we have CECs on every street corner here. I will also tell you almost everything is Studio C too. We have no 3 stage stores left and only 2 stores with the cyberamic robots. The best one is Irving right down the road from CECE. All of our stores are pretty much cookie cutter identical and the DFW area is kind of hard to get around in. To be honest, I dont think it will be worth our time to do a tour of stores. Almost all the places that were former PTTs are closed or have been so heavily remodeled you don't get any of the cool nastalgia like where Jenn is. Since the area is where corporate is, the changes happen here first. Don't worry though, we will have plenty of other things to do besides hang out at CEC. We will definaetly have to go at least one time for sure.

That Holiday Inn is right across from home office so...But there ARE about 4 other hotels up and down that access road...

Everyone is welcome to bring videos or dvds to CV3 as we will be having some time set aside for the traditional "Video Showcase" segment. J actually has something extra special planned for this....a special video treat that we will be working on in the Spring for showing exclusively at CV3. Even if J can't come, he can still "be there"!

Getting back onto the topic of Hotels......When i was last at CECE, i made a mental note as to what hotel was the closest to the place. There is a hotel right next door ( literally) called American Suites if i remember right. I always swore if i came back down to visit again, i would stay here as it is truly within walking distance of CECE and the Irving store if my memory serves me correctly. The Captian may be able to shed better light on this...i have'nt looked it up yet.

Yes, the Holiday Inn was a decent spot. They had this funky function/meeting up location near the lobby that i can well imagine being a great spot for improputu gatherings. I also remember the horrid stink of pool clorine down there in that area too.... blah! Lol!! Hopefully that won't be the case this time...

Hmm.possibly, but looking at this address makes it seem it's farther away then i remember.

I remember it literally being right next door, on the same side of the street and everything.

I think so. I beleive this is the one I stayed @ in '99. and if this is indeed the same location it's only about a mile to the store from there. wich i've *WALKED* b4.

That is correct you have CEC Entertainment then some glass building.I've lived here for almost a year and I still dont know what that glass buidling is, then some hole in the wall hotel then Amerisuites. ;)
