Oh my....

I just got my copy of the CV3 DVD and holy crap it is awesome. Haven't even watched through it all yet, nor have I even attempted to pop in disc 2. The begining is awesome. Nick did a hell of a job with this and production-wise it is superior to the CV1 and CV2 discs by far. Amazing what professional equipment can do quality wise, not to mention his artistic vision.

Alright I think I'm done hugging his butt for the moment. No I'm not... the video clarity on this puppy is really impressive. Also it has a great soundtrack ;) to tie all the clips together. I have to finish watching this, mind you, but at first glance I will totally give this release a green light.

Should be available soon, one way or the other. :eek

Veganova really hits the nail on the head with his comments above....the CV3 disc totally wipes the floor clean of the previous CV releases. This is the disc i have been dreaming of since CV1, but sadly that year we had hardly any footage and what little we did have was not the best it could have been. Cv2 was much better, yes, and loads of features, but like the events themselves, each year tops the last by leaps and bounds!

Nick and his co-editor Gabe have really pulled out all the stops with this one. I won't rave more here, as my full review is located in the other related thread ( Cv3 Footage). Read it there! :D

I have already watched these discs 5/6 times now since they arrived earlier this week. I cannot get enough of them! There is SO MUCH going on in every scene, i keep finding new stuff jumping out at me all the time.

Here are some examples you can look for when you see for yourself:

Scene: Menutia and Jenn working on Jasper to get his mouth that has'nt moved in 20 years to work.

Menutia: "Uh Oh...."
Jenn: "What is it?"
Menutia: ( holding air hose) "There's no air"!
Jenn: ( looks down) "You're standing on it..."
Menutia: ( looks down)
Menutia: (looks up and directly at camera) "Note to Self: When fixing air lines don't stand on them, it will deminish the product!"

:rollin

Or how about this one i picked out today:

Scene: Group of attendees watching the RAE and enjoying it

The Captain is heard in the background yelling:

"Oh look! I found the pliers!"
"See...i knew we would find them when we were'nt looking for them!"
( this relates to a elusive pair of electrical pliers we were searching for around 2am the previous night while trying to get the ancient PTT show running again.)

Other great stuff caught on film:

Donovon ( need i say more?)
Menutia caught singing along with the RAE during the "Grease" song ( Hot Summer Nights)
Matt having a hard time keeping his hands to himself when around Mitzi ( gasp!)
Dolli Dimples totally turning on Donovon big time ( "Dolli is So ghetto!)
Church Service when the "Sun Shines In"
Billy Bob showing up and getting goofy
Harmony Howlette and the rest of the Pizza Time Players in action.
NO ONE has seen these shows "live" and in perfomance since 1982. Even though time ran out and we were'nt able to get all the animations running on these 20+ year old figures, what we did get going showed some of the creative show programming from the past. That ALONE makes this dvd a must see!

Rolfe losing his cymbal hand halfway through "She Blinded me with Science"
Munch spacing out...
"Naked" Harmony Howlette!
Skytube Race board game play....with everyone playing the character of their game piece, complete with voices! ( wow...that is actually really surreal watching on tv...lol)
Madame Oink turning in a rare Birthday Show performance not seen since 1983
Earl nearly smashing his wee head open courtesy of a nearby PTT Flag Waver. He must have had a splitting headache later...(....hit the cymbal!)
Franchise's super cool Lego Stage!
J's video message playing with crowd reactions ( a gem..)
Richardson TX cec footage ( see how bad a 3-stage can get)
Those amazing reel to reel PTT machines and card cages. I love those machines!! Watching the red lights is dang hypnotising!
Matt almost getting kicked by Beach Bear...
Mitzi "went all black for a second" ( TinaFan's quote) during the climax of the RAE's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".
Rodney's awesome musical selection!
Irving CEC employee nearly bowling over Franchise when we all finally decided to leave....( his expression afterwards summed it up well...lol!)
Nearly getting all run over by CEC Home Office cars....
Daisy was'nt on this dvd...?
Travis being all mysterious and cool....
Menutia freaking out when the Cyberstar version of the PTT Players sings "Dancing in September". Great song..lousy animation programming though ( you can REALLY see the difference between the two CEC eras here. Compare THIS show programming with what is seen earlier ( Madame Oink and the Harmony shows in these same discs. You will be amazed)
Looney Bird actually lied to J and really WAS in TX for CV3! We have the video proof now! LOL!!

Well i guess i better stop as i don't want to spoil all the surprises and fun.

;)

Hmmm....

I don't recall hearing that part...but trust me Donovon...you are ALL OVER this dvd.

Examples:

"Dolli...is straight up BLACK" She's got the afro going...she's got..."

"Halluah!" Oooohhhh Jesus!"

"Where's the choir... i don't hear the choir!!"

"She ( Mitzi) turned black for a second.."

"It's his turn....."( during the trivia contest)

"Oh HELL no....uh uh!" ( When Harmony Howlette begins to sing "I Fall For Pizzas"

Veganova handles all the distribution. Contact him directly at his e-mail address here at the site and he will set you up!

He has been busy lately, so if you don't hear back from him right away do not worry. He WILL get back to you!

I also wanted to add that ALL the money raised from the sale of the CV3 dvd set will be put towards to "Get J to CV4" fund. So please purchase the set "offiically" and don't be cheap and just burn a copy from your internet buddy!

Nick, myself, as well as Travis would like to see the initial set of CV3 discs sold out. If we can do this, or at least get close to it...i think we will have a greater chance of actually getting J and his wife out to CA for CV4!

For those that work at a local CEC: X-mas is coming up! What better gift to give your manager, GM, DM, or CM then a fun introduction to not only the CV concept, but a cool history lesson of PTT/Showbiz Pizza? Imagine there surprise and delight seeing this fab program, with YOU ( the person they work with) featured in it!

Just some ideas....this set is awesome and everyone needs to see this! Nolan will eventually....it's THAT good man!

Remember, you feedback is appreciated!

My mom liked the SkyTubes game, but she thinks it went on for too long. Also, where did the show selector come from?

Shiney Happy Jenn
12-10-2006, 08:15 PM
Yes, the SkyTube Race game did go on for a while, but the reason it was not cut is likely because the wacky voices everyone was doing to "be in character" with their game piece was just too priceless to lose. Also, this was a 2 disc set so there was plenty of room to leave it complete.

The Show Selector, as shown in the RAE segment of the program, is just the face place and stand i beleive. It was not hooked up or operational while we were there, but i am sure it is on The Captain's to do list to get up and running.

In the CEC cyberstar part, Why is Madam Oink in Helen's place? Also, Are there any Easter eggs?

CEC3066
01-17-2007, 04:52 PM
we did have Helen cosmetics butehen we attempted to fit them to the robot they would not fit. Hey Jenn does this mean we can safely blow that long thought theory of "All characters are interchangeable"?

menutia
01-17-2007, 06:50 PM
I'll chime in here to say that originally, all PTT Chatacter parts were interchangeable. This was a cost saving measure. I've tried and the basic elements all swap out. However, with retrofits and changes to characters over time, not all items fit all robots.

I recall someone else here trying to install a modern Helen head onto a classic character and, well, it did not line up at the bottom 2 screws.

I have not had a problem with the items I have been working with on my show.

Thansk for clarifying that Menutia.....tis' true: Newer Cyberamic robot frames have the screws in slightly different locations when compared to the older, original Cyber frames.

Originally for CV3, Classic Helen was also slated to be a surprise guest along with Madame Oink. We had reels all ready to go, and Helen was going to "magically" appear at some point on Day 2 before we went out the Dinner at TJ Hartfords. Alas, when The Captain tried fitting her mask on a few nights before to test it out, the screws would not line up...thus we were not able to have her appear.

The PTT show we had running at CV3 were genuine 1981/1982 Cyberamic robots. Most stores today that still have the Cyberamic stages ( MMBB 1 and 2 Stages) do not have these models. They have the "newer" versions that started to be made after PTT Inc. as we knew it folded. You can usually tell the older Bot frames from the originals when looking at a show: Older models tend to move better..more responsive to the program signals. Newer models are crappy...as they don't seem to respond as well to the signals. I have stores here in MA that have both types.

Maybe in the future we will be able to see Helen in action. I have a complete Modern Helen and could have sent her down to CV3, but who wants to see new stuff you can see in any CEC? Well...who except Nevin...lol!

I thought it was great. The case, DVDs and DVD Menus look professional, the Skytubes game did go on a bit long, but it was funny seeing everyone play in character(but as a gaming geek I can’t stand any game that uses a spinner instead of dice). The shows where awesome, I saw Ra-F songs I never seen before, and I have a new respect for the older PTT show.

pizzacam
01-20-2007, 05:26 PM
Yeah I gotta agree with ya on the whole Skytubes game dragged on thing. We were thinking of just leaving it out completely cause it did drag on, but there were some funny moments so...but we did cut it down drastically. The whole uncut thing was like 40 minutes or so...:lol :o

Shiney Happy Jenn
02-01-2007, 10:29 PM
It's cool Gabe....you and Nick did a awesome job!

During CV3 i felt the game went on too long myself...as about 25 mins into it we lost most of the other half of the attendees ( the non-players)....always a sign that it's time to move on to another acitivity. I tried to speed it up, but did'nt want to push the folks playing as they seemed to be into it and into the whole "being in character" thing. Also, there was another factor that played a part in the length of the game play....

Behind the scenes in secret, Mike and Menutia were still going crazy in the "Showroom" trying to get everything finalized as far as the show functions went. We ran out of time with the PTT show, and were not able to get all the animations working. So the game was planned in that time slot to allow them to have more time to work on the show.....it was the perfect time-burner that kept most guests entertained while the raced to get what they could done in the garage.

This same show was just restored by myself and the Two Mikes and looks and works 20 times BETTER now...so the Cv3 PTT Show footage is already outdated. Wait until you see what it looks like NOW!

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering:

It was Pasqaully (played by....?) who won the Skytube game!

Next time we play....it will be a quickie!

;)
