Just curious about this here and it would be wonderful if Aaron would drop in and answer it.

Where were the pics of each character taken on the cover of all the vinyl records? Did you have a specific show setup where you just threw a backdrop behind them and posed them for a shot,, or did billy bob and the gang run to sears for a photoshoot?! :)

For the RAE vinyl album cover pics photo sessions I thought they had used early (pre-Cyberstar video) walkaround RAE characters similar to the RAE robots.

The pics for the 45's were taken on the stage at CEI. They had a black backdrop behind them. After that the background was altered. The one for the albulm was taken at Creative's recording studio...not at Jefferson Street. But at another Creative building which is now owned by someone else. They had a few different poses used for the albulm as well as the christmas 45. Also the other 45's had a few different poses...nothing major..for instance Billy Bob's eyelids were down on one of the pictures.then on the final one used for Roast Beef Sandwich and so on the were opened all the way. I have proof ;)

Thanx for the info! So was CEI originally ran out of the other building - or was there 2 locations all the time?

In the early 80's, we had 5 or 6 buildings. The electronics research lab with a music studio and a gymnasium. The origianal Jefferson Building for mechanical and artistic R&D, the manufacturing plant, the programming studio (it had lots of rooms full of characters being programmed for shows), a storage building, and maybe a building or two even I didn;t know about.

The album was taken in our music studio with rocks on the walls and wood floors. We were all "80's out" in those days with the music studio.

About the album cover.....Why was Billy Bob playing Bongo Drums?:-/

I think those were placed there to cover the hole in his overalls. Since his guitar is attached to him there, the overalls are made with a square cut in them so they had to hide that. If you look closely behind the drums you can still see it. ;)

not sure why the drums were chosen though. Other outtake shots show him with a guitar (a real one, not his fiberglass hillbilly one). These shots can be seen in the photo gallery here on the site.

Haha yeah I remember thinking that was clever AND made Billy Bob look really versatile like he was a well rounded musician! :-O

I notice Beach Bear is playing a Gibson Les Paul Sunburst. Not his usual guitar!

That is cool about how the album cover was made. I always pictured people putting up the robots like so for the pictures. Those were and still is some cool pictures!:)
