Does anyone happen to know what company supplied the brass cylinders that were used by the Rock Afire robots? And can they still be obtained? I looked on the Fabco-air site and they just have the stainless steel "non-repairable" cylinders. I also checked out ChicagoCylinders (which are also referenced in the RAE parts manual), but I know ShowBiz went from Chicago (aluminum) to Brass to non-rebuild Stainless Steel. Are there issues with the Chicago aluminum cyllinders?

Particularly, we are looking for D31796-A and D31801-A (in the Rock Afire parts manual).

We would like to find rebuildable cylinders to use for some 3-Stage MMBB movements rather than the stainless steel ones that the parts department carries. We have lots of repair kits for the brass cylinders (a dollar to rebuild a repariable cylinder versus $35 to replace a non-repairable cylinder.)

Chicago Cylinders are good. Try Bimba. www.bimba.com (http://www.bimba.com)
You might need to use a distributer, but they are really easy to deal with.

Menutia, which cylinders did you get from Bimba? Aren't those the same cylinders we get from the CEC parts department?

Yeah, Bimba makes the CEC items. I was offering you the possibility that someone OTHER than "Parts" might sell the parts cheaper.

I personally have not seen too many brass cylinders on the market anymore. Someone else might have more suggestions.

I have a room full of brass cylinders. Tell me what sizes you need. I don't have part number cross references handy.

Rod-
I have all of the information on the brass cylinders. The company is still in business and still makes all of the cylinders used on the show. I even have cross reference info for the parts department part numbers as well as price comparisons. I've been buying them lately to replace all of those crappy bimba, non-rebuildable cylinders that someone had put on my show. drop me an email and i'll email you the info: jasperjowles@hotmail.com

Thanks for the great information guys! I'll be contacting some of you directly.

For the curious, I did find one of our old brass cylinders that had a readable label on it. Cylinders and Valves, Inc.
I found their website at www.cylval.com. (http://www.cylval.com.)
