Does Showbiz Pizza and the Rock-afire Explosion belong to the 80's decade, or do you feel like both should exist in the 21st century?

Yes and no...

With the PROPEEERRRRR people in place the Rockafire and Showbiz could be brought into the 00's. However the Rockafire as we last knew it would be 80s...lol a lot of that would need updating. And not umm 'kiddying' down like the 'new' rockafire in the early 90s.

i think a lot of the jokes and references made by the rock-afire would be thought of as 'too inapropriate for kids' now a days... i mean, for heaven's sake they changed the cookie monster song because they thought kids were getting fat off of cookies... no way people would put up with a stage show talking about corn squeezin's and gasahol. i dont think the rock-afire would be the same if it came out now, i wish i was born like 10 years earlier so i could really enjoy showbiz in its time.

The show is a lot less PC than most things that are "kid-oriented" nowadays. I really don't think the "PC people" would allow the 80s RAE here now.

As for a new RAE with the classic bots?
that could definitely work!

even a new showbiz could be awesome, if they cater to those that are a bit older than the tubes crowd, and bring back ball pits :) SPP could live again!

The songs should stay the same more or less, mostly golden oldies, since they work so well that way.

well,I think the "ROOTS" of the RAE/showbiz come out of the 80's but I don't think they belong strictly to the 80's,things like the transformers had their roots out of the 80's but it's still a strong toy line, the roots of bugs bunny came out of the 30's/40's but it's still going strong so I think that something like a RAE could keep on going as long as aaron allows it to keep going...

And the "ROOTS" in origin of the Rock-afire show came from the late 1970's Creative Engeneering shows Country Bear Jubillie/Hard Luck Bears (featuring Billy Bob a/k/a Billy Wilbur and Looney Bird a/k/a Gooney Bird), Wolf Pack 5 (featuring the Wolfman a/k/a Rolfe De Wolfe, Fatz Geronimo, Beach Bear, Dingo Starr a/k/a Dook, and Queenie the Fox who would later envolve into Mini Mozzerella and later Mitzi Mozzerella), and Santa Claus Revue (featuring Santa Claus who would be the retrofit Uncle Klunk for the RAE shows).

Well, getting back to what Britt was saying about some of the jokes being inappropriate for today's kids, I agree, and I'm even surprised that they got away with some of the tings they said back in the 80's...like when Fatz sings about how his Mamy use to smash him in his cradle...

Actually a lot of cartoons on cartoon network are pretty tacky. Watch some of the new cartoons and you'll find that the RAE shows weren't as tacky as some of the new cartoons they have now.

Is it just me, or does every thread by Darryl sound like either a pamphlet or an infomerical?

Showbiz and The Rock-Afire should be around forever, I would really love The Rock-Afire perform hits of today such as Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake, Complicated by Avril Lavigne, This Love by Maroon 5, 1985 by Bowling For Soup, and other. I would also love to have Showbiz today because it was the only one I went to when I was a kid, never been to a Pizza Time Theatre or any other knockoff when I was a kid.

I think that the RAE could definitely be brought up-to-date, because Aaron and the crew at Creative Engineering could produce new show content.

ShowBiz Pizza Place could never be brought up to modern standards; it's too 1980's to be changed. Besides, today's market probably wouldn't "bear" another national comptitor.

I think that the 80s songs were great for the show. If you notice, CEC's new showtape still remakes 80s songs. And new songs have been done. Look at the tivos with the new shows. I personally HATE them. I like the songs themselves. But not with RAE. Although it could be because it's not in the RAE's voices. I actually find the new shows to be soooooo boring!!! I went to Rock-afire Pizza in Indio last week and was bored out of my mind! I'll write a full review in a bit. ..also, u guys r probably like "whotf is this guy!?" lol so ill post an intro in a bit too :)

What condition was the Rockafire in when you went to Indio last week. When I went about a year ago they looked pitiful.

SBPP and the RAE should indeed be around forever because future generations would no doubt enjoy the splendidness that can come from this amazing entity. I grew up going to SPP and was quite puzzled when they changed everything into what it is today. As a result, I had no desire to ever go back. Many fans say that the RAE is one of the best fictional bands ever created, and I strongly agree. The people at CEI were practically geniuses at producing essential entertainment for us audiences.:) If the tensions (between Corporate and Creative) had never arisen then we would probably still have the concept (and everything else) today. I know for a fact that RAE fans (like myself) would have kept going to the SB restaurants if things had stayed as they were.:ohwell:

CEI had 2 things that none of these other competitors have; good writers and balls. They didn't can any dialog (from what I heard), and if something was funny that fit in with the context, they just put it in the show.

I think with the classic wittiness and musical talent the RAE used to have and some newer state-of-the-art animatronics, the RAE could be around for many years to come. I think one of the reasons they disappeared was the fact that the show is not cutting edge by today's standards, and also due to the fact that they went bye-bye so fast after concept unification.

In time people forget about things unless they're still around in some shape or form. There are only a few places that still use the RAE in their facilities, and because of the lack of them being around, they may someday fade away into oblivion. I mean, think about it: there are maybe 5-10 places all across the United States that use the Rockafire Explosion still, and there are over 500 CEC's. If their roles were reversed, I'm sure most people would completely forget who CEC and the Pizza Time Players were.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here, and say that maybe it was good that RAE stopped while they were ahead. Think about it. CEI already stopped programming the shows, and the content was starting to change (Abbey Road to tribute to neighbors?) I think that if showbiz kept control of the RAE, and things kept going the way they were, the RAE would suck now. Also, the technology and everything would have to change for today. Just saying.

Of course, if the "bigger" RAE was still around, they would be doing newer stuff. You could say the same thing for the Pizza Players too. Why aren't they still doing the stuff they did how many years ago? The reason is, is because they change the stuff over time. For the new RAE, they are doing the Macarena! RAE didn't have to stay with the old songs from before if they continued onwards.

I don't see why Showbiz wouldn't exist now if they didn't do what they did. The only thing they would probably need to change is the color scheme to get with the times.

I say... Bring on the RAE... It would work... No matter the era... Kids watch a lot of worse stuff on TV and movies then we did as kids...
