Here is something interesting. Chris (DJ Smurf) and Damon (Looney Bird 78) And of course both of there wives came this past weekend to see me and we had a great time. Well..we decided to go to CEC and low and behold who happened to be there.THE FAMOUS ED PRIDE (Edward Tyson) We were just talking about him and walked in and there he was. So it was kind of a reunion that wasn't even planned...pretty cool. Also off the subject..I met a little old lady today while I was doing an installation and she can make me the fur I need for the mask's. Pretty Cool........As of now I have a Fatz mold,Mitzi mold, choo choo mold and I am waiting for my others to be sent back to me along with the original plugs of all characters from an animatronic company who produced them. I will keep you posted.

Hey, I had a great time while i was there. It was my 1st time meeting Loony Bird 78 and his wife. It was nice to see Snap again. With him and myself so busy working, it's hard to visit to often. But ya'll will never belive what happened on the way home. 50 miles out of Pensacola,my 95 Ford Mustang decided to break down. The oil pressure when all the way down, and the moter started knocking very loud. Then it shut down...... Thats it. It was done. That fast. I called the police to take me and my wife to the next town. My brother drives a wreaker so he came to get us but it took 4 hours for him to get us. Due to the bad rain and roads being wet and slick, It took 5 hours to get back home with the car. I got droped off at work 15 min. before we opened. No sleep at all. But anyway. I got a lot of rest last night and I ordered a brand new moter for the car today.

Do you guys ever recall the CEC in Pensacola operating under the name "ShowBiz Pizza..."??? What were the dates when it was under that name?
And was it the one in front of University Mall???

My parents and I are in disagreement. They feel it's ALWAYS been a CEC.

TIA
Josh

I think it was late 1980's-early 1990's when this SPP was with the blue color scheme with the CEC show.

As I stated in another post, this store was a Showbiz. My store's old GM is the current GM of this store.
Chuck still has his tux, and I told Chris to keep it on him as long as possible! (I just don't really like the blue C shirt and khaki shorts all that much.)

Yeah when the companies became one in like '87 they were called Showbiz Pizza Time Inc. Some CEC stores continued to operate under the name Chuck E Cheese's while some Chuck E Cheese's signage and paper items were switched to "Showbiz Pizza" BUT their games, layout and show stayed the same...So you could go to a "Showbiz Pizza" and unless you'd been there already not know WHAT show it would have inside... :cecwink:

Here's a photo taken by Looneybird78 of the show in a Pensacola store. Not sure how many CEC's Pensacola has, but I'm guessing just this one. It shows the 3-stage robots which signifies that this was definetely a ShowBiz with the Rock-afire at some point in it's history.

Yes, I vaguely remember it being a RAE show, but gosh, it's been over 20 years since I've been there.
Thank you for your replies.

I paid a visit to the store in Pensacola, Florida in September 1987 when I was five years of age. A third-cousin on my mother's side was a having a birthday celebration at this SPP location and I was invited along with my mom and little brother. Other relatives in attendance included a first-cousin, his parents, and our grandma. I spoke with my grandma about this just yesterday and she has a somewhat strong memory of us being there back then for that little party. The RAE was featured in the larger dining room area. I was a little surprised when I noticed a smaller room with tables and chairs. I guess it was for patrons that did not want any entertainment. At one point my brother (who was then a toddler) was placed to sit on the stage for a brief moment right between the drums and organ. I remember this so well because a handful of photographs were taken on this day with the camera that my mother had brought. This was the only visit that I would pay to this SPP location; all others were done at the one that once existed in Fort Walton Beach.

This thread here has decided to pull me out of the woodwork. I've been lurking around here for a few months now and just wanted to share my own experiences.

I live in Pensacola, have been here all my 25 years. The first time i ever recall being taken to Showbiz was sometime either in 1987 or 88. We'd go there usually on Saturday's. I remember the birthday parties there. I think I even had a birthday party there myself when i turned 6 or 7.

Anyway, as for the times when this Showbiz was rebranded as a CEC. This is all from my own recollection. I remember seeing MMBB for the first time in either 1991 or early 1992. Because i distinctly remember being almost in shock when i did not see a RAFE inside the dining room the first time. I also remember the SHowbiz signs being taken down and the CEC going up about this time. From what i can recall I don't even think they used the newer style Showbiz signage before they switched.

This is all from my fuzzy recollections of events from almost 20 years ago. So take it with a grain of salt i guess. But still it's nice to see a site that is preserving all this heritage.

Yes of course this was a Showbiz. If you look under my pictures you will see pics from this resturant. Opened December 19, 1981. My first visit was December 24th 1981. It changed to Chuck E. Cheeses in 1991. Actually the show was converted in November of 91 but they had the Chuck E. Cheese's sign out front for about 6 months before switching the Rock afire over. Yes this is beside University Mall. Now in late 82 or early 83 Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre opened up in Easgate Plaza on 9th Avenue right around the corner..well about 2 miles or so. This place only stayed open about 3 years.
