My favorite characters from the Rock-A-Fire explosion were Earl and Rolfe. This is probably because they weren't used as much as the rest of RAE. I loved how Earl would always out smart Rolfe, it was so funny to me. I remember going to showbiz one time and their act was not used for any of that days' particular shows. I believe that it is discussed in some of Jasper's showtapes, but I remember this visit fondly because I didn't get to see Earl and Rolfe, and when the other stages would close there would be thunder and flashing (like lightening) lights where you could see the movements of the RAE for a short time while the curtains were closed. Does anyone else remember this? I hated that particular show and I was mad because I didn't get to see Earl and Rolfe. I don't think I enjoyed that visit to Showbiz. Fortunately for me, I had many more.

Hmm I'm a little confused. Jasper is Chuck E. Cheese and the 2 characters did not perform together. The only tapes R&E were not in were the Klunk install tape aka The Fatz Show and the time he was either replaced by Uncle Klunk, Santa or Lady Liberty. If that was the case you would not have seen them from behind the curtain. I am wondering if you didn't see a show where the curtains stuck and didn't open. That did happen. The lightening makes me think maybe you saw the intro to "You May Be Right" which has R&E doing Hamlet as an intro to that song. That song, minus this intro was used in the Fatz tape. I think the lightening crash was still there though so it is possible that maybe just the lights went off behind R&E's stage still because it caught the very tail end of the skit in the edit. That being said though, The R&E stage did not have a strobe light so I'm still confused. Sometimes childhood memories don't happen the way we think they did. Is it possible you are confusing things?

When I said Jasper's Show Tapes, I meant the show tapes on this website where Jasper gives it a Paws up or Paws down. I know that RAE and CEC or two different shows and that all of their characters were different.

Okay catslappy, I went back into the showcase archives and if you look at the tape that talks about the first installation of Klunk, that's most likely the show I am talking about. Earl and Rolf were not used during that show, most likely because Klunk was about to be installed. When I went to Showbiz, all I wanted to see was Earl and Rolfe so of course I was disappointed. Now I do remember the lightening that you are talking about, but I can distinctly remember that after the curtains closed there was like a blue light in all of the stages that could allow you to see the characters (for a short time) before the animatronics stopped moving.

Ok got ya... that would make sense. Most of the lighting for R&E stayed up. They did change a few things and make a few adjustments for Klunk. They probably did not disable the lighting however on the stage for that skit. The hamlet intro fades into the song "You May Be Right". I think when the song begins R&E's curtain closed since they just did the intro. About mid-way through the song Billy Bob's curtain opens as he joins in with Fatz singing lead.

I loved how the lighting remained on after the curtains closed. You're not imagining things...
Also, Fatz's organ had a strobe in it. Right?

Yes you are correct... The organ did have a strobe... as did the Rock-afire Sign behind Fatz.
On a side note, I don't guess anyone knows what kind of strobe bulb that is they use in the sign and/or organ? I need to find a replacement!~

yes, that was cool to see the curtains come down while there is still some lighting.

Do you still need to know what kind of strobe bulb that is? I am getting a replacement bulb this week (from CEC Corporate), but I can give you the part number. They are about $100 for just the bulb, I checked online at different places.

I remember that show too--with the thunder. That show originally used all three stages, but there are actually a couple of "Klunk Installation" showtapes where the shows and programming were modified not to use Rolfe's stage at all and obviously cut out any Rolfe/Earl talk. I believe that was the "Satisfaction Medley" you're talking about. There was also a "2-stage" birthday tape for use when Klunk/Santa/Liberty was around.
